New York Mets vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 10/06/24

The Mets had another come from behind win as they rallied late against the Phillies to steal one on the road by a final score of 6-2.  The Mets will be looking to take a 2-0 series lead before heading back to the big apple, and they have more than enough talent to do so, which takes us into our Mets vs Phillies prediction.  

The Mets will be sending Luis Severino to the mound who is 1-0 in the postseason with a 4.50 ERA.  In Severino’s last start, he struggled in the first inning against the Brewers, but after that inning, he settled down nicely to help lead the Mets to an early series lead against Milwaukee.  Today, the Mets are hoping Severino does just that against the Phillies as they get ready to face lefty Cristopher Sanchez.  Sanchez was solid for the Phillies this year going 11-9 with a 3.32 ERA, and in three starts against the Mets this season, he went 1-0 with a 3.06 ERA. As for Severino, he’s also 1-0 against the Phillies this season, but holds a 4.50 ERA against them.  The Mets have been pulling off dramatic wins as of late, but they have also been solid against lefties all season batting .256 with an OPS of .769, which puts them fifth in the league. I think the Mets have some magic left in the tank, and I think they’ll take a commanding two game lead against the Phillies in this series, making the Mets money line my best bet of the night.
