Kansas City Royals vs New York Yankees Prediction, Odds and Picks for Tomorrow, 10/05/24

After an exciting Wild Card series, baseball fans are gearing up for an action-packed Saturday when the AL and NL divisional series kicks off!  We have your Royals vs Yankees prediction right here, as the Royals hope to steal one on the road against a Yankees team who hasn’t played in nearly a week. The Royals pitching was terrific in their last series against the Orioles, giving up just 1 earned run in 2 games. However, their hitting was lackluster, as they only scored 3 earned runs in 2 games. This Yankees lineup is built differently than the Orioles, and the Royals are going to need to be careful when pitching to hitters like Aaron Judge and Juan Soto.  

As of Friday, Michael Wacha is expected to take the mound for the Royals. He went 13-8 this season with a 3.35 ERA. For the Yankees, they’ll be handing the ball to their ace Gerrit Cole, who was 8-5 this season with a 3.41 ERA.  The Royals have a 2-5 record against the Yankees this season, and they were outscored 42-24 in those 7 games.  In Wacha’s career, he is 2-1 against the Yankees with a 2.97 ERA in 11 starts.  As for Cole, he is 4-1 in his career against the Royals with a 2.77 ERA in 8 starts.  Neither pitcher has faced their opponents this season, making this an exciting matchup to watch.  The Royals definitely have some talented pitchers, but seeing how they struggled to score runs last series against the Orioles, I think they’ll struggle to score runs against Cole in Saturday’s matchup. The Yankees have the advantage on the mound and in their lineup, and I don’t expect being idle for nearly a week to throw them off much – which is why I’ll be backing the Yankees run line as my best bet.
