Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/19/25

The Tigers continue to roll in the month of April, going 11-5, and they’re looking to keep the momentum going as they get ready for Game 3 in this four-game series against the Royals on Saturday. Detroit has outscored the Royals 13-4 in the first two games, and with Kansas City’s offense struggling the way it is, it could be another long day – especially with Casey Mize set to take the mound for the Tigers. 

Even Cole Ragans couldn’t slow down this Tigers offense on Friday night, and I don’t think Seth Lugo will have much more luck in Saturday’s matchup when he takes the mound. Lugo is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA this season, and in his last start against the Yankees, he allowed four earned runs in 6.2 innings. For the Tigers, Casey Mize is off to a strong start, posting a  2-1 record with a 2.60 ERA. In 17.1 innings pitched, Mize has a WHIP of 1.04, striking out 15, and has given up five earned runs. Kansas City is hitting just .209 in their last 15 games, and I think their offense struggles will continue, even with Bobby Witt batting .345 during that span. Despite Witt playing extremely well, it won’t be enough to slow down this red-hot Tigers squad. Look for Mize and the Tigers to roll on Saturday, making Detroit money line my best bet of the day.
