Colorado Rockies vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction, Odds and Picks for Monday, 03/31/25

The Phillies have to be pleased with the way they played in their opening series against the Nationals. They took 2 out of 3 against their division rivals and they will be looking to secure another series victory before they have to take on the very dangerous Dodgers. Philly’s offense has been solid to start off the season, sitting 8th in OPS (.798), with 6 homers and averaging 4.7 runs per game. The Rockies, on the other hand, have lost their season opener against the Rays — and it’s not going to get much easier against Philadelphia. Colorado struggled in the first series, sitting 25th in OPS this season (.555) while hitting only 1 homer and averaging 2.7 runs per game.  

Taking the mound for the Phillies will be lefty Cristopher Sanchez, who was 11-9 last season with a 3.32 ERA. In 181.2 innings pitched, Sanchez struck out 153 batters and had a WHIP of 1.24. For the Rockies, they will be handing the ball over to German Marquez — who only started one game in 2024. In his only start, Marquez gave up 3 earned runs in 4.0 innings pitched to the Mets while striking out only 3. I also want to point out that Marquez struggled in spring training, when he posted a 5.74 ERA in 5 starts and had a WHIP of 1.72. Sanchez had an ERA of 1.62 this spring training in 5 starts and posted a WHIP of 0.84. The Phillies have the clear advantage on the mound and with their lineup, and I can’t find a reason how the Rockies will be able to keep this game close. The Phillies should be able to score plenty of runs against Marquez and this Rockies bullpen, which is why I’m backing them on the run line.
