Reds vs Rockies Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Reds and Rockies play an afternoon game on Saturday in Denver, after the Reds held on for an 8-7 victory on Friday night. We have a chance of rain and a strong wind blowing out of Coors on Saturday, so it could also be a wild and unpredictable day. With Friday’s loss, the Rockies have now sunk to a league-worst 4-21 record, and there are not a lot of positive things going on in Denver to try to build on. With Hunter Greene taking the hill on Saturday, I don’t see things changing for the Rockies in this spot. I’m even willing to pay up for the Run Line in this one, just to cut down on the juice a bit.
Hunter Greene is a fireballer. Yes, it is hard to pitch at elevation, but that usually takes some break off the off-speed pitches; it doesn’t slow down the fastball. Greene should be his usual dominant self, especially with a shaky Colorado lineup that lacks for anything resembling a scary bat. The best bat in the lineup is Brenton Doyle, but he was absent on Friday dealing with a personal matter, and who knows if he is available Saturday. Even still, the Reds should be raking against Antonio Senzatela, who hasn’t been as bad this season as you would expect, but still, he is by far the lesser pitcher in this matchup. Give me the Reds to score big, and the Rockies to continue to struggle offensively. My Reds vs Rockies pick is the Reds to cover -1.5.
Reds vs Rockies prediction: Cincinnati -1.5 (-125) available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
