Detroit had a tough assignment to start the season, opening on the west coast with 3 against the Dodgers and then taking 2 of 3 from Seattle. With the Yankees coming to town next week, it is important for the Tigers to hold serve against the Sox. Chicago, meanwhile, went 1-2 against both the Angels and Twins, putting them well ahead of last season’s record-setting pace for losses. The problem for bettors on Friday, though, is that the Tigers are very heavily juiced, so we can’t really play this Money Line. I think the better play is on the game total. The pitching matchup is Jack Flaherty against Jonathan Cannon. Flaherty is a solid veteran, and he more than held his own against the Dodgers in his first start.
