Baltimore Orioles vs Detroit Tigers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/27/25

I generally do not suggest that teams will cover a 1.5 run line at home given the likelihood of one less inning to bat, but Sunday’s matchup between the Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles heavily favors the Tigers with their ace on his home mound. Tarik Skubal is coming off of a Cy Young campaign in 2024, and the southpaw hurler has looked sharp to begin 2025. His last 3 starts have combined for 18 innings with 2 runs surrendered, and he now draws a matchup against an Orioles lineup that has been struggling mightily against left-handers. I expect a very strong outing from the best lefty in baseball during Sunday’s matchup.

Dean Kremer is on the other end of the spectrum, holding on to a starting rotation spot with the Orioles out of their necessity for innings. His performance has not warranted a starting role with 40 base runners and 19 earned runs surrendered across his first 25.0 innings pitched this season. Kremer’s underlying metrics are awful with a 5.91 FIP and 11.7%-barrel rate. His inability to earn whiffs leads to a ton of balls in play and his quality of contact allowed doesn’t allow for him to pitch to contact with consistent success. Detroit has been hitting right-handed pitching well this season ranking to in wOBA with a 128 wRC+. I like the Tigers to earn a multi-run win at home in this spot.
