For BC, a win here is crucial for getting bowl eligible; it requires 2 wins with UNC, SMU and Pitt still left on the schedule. For Syracuse, this team is 6-2 with 3 of their final 4 games being very winnable. But coming off the disaster midweek game at Pitt followed by the narrow survival in OT against Virginia Tech (which was missing its QB), Syracuse does not instill much confidence. For both teams, the offenses are way better than the defenses. I am willing to overlook the dreadful game Kyle McCord had against Pitt — the one in which he thought he was playing all-time quarterback in the back yard and throwing touchdowns to both teams (check that; he threw 3 touchdowns to the other team and zero to his own. Good grief!). Still, McCord is the nation’s 4th-leading passer and the Eagles are 76th in the nation in passing yards allowed per game. Syracuse should score. On the other side, the Orange are dreadful on defense (especially for a team that is somehow 6-2), and they especially struggle against dual-threat QBs. Thomas Castellanos isn’t the most dangerous QB out there, but this is one of his softer matchups. I look for both offenses to score often. This game feels like an over, and one that could go either way where teams are just trading late scores back and forth.
