Kentucky Wildcats vs Tennessee Volunteers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Tomorrow, 11/02/24
Kentucky vs Tennessee Pickswise Expert Predictions
The Kentucky Wildcats take on the Tennessee Volunteers in an SEC matchup. Kentucky is 3-5 this year and living off a close loss to Georgia and a win over Ole Miss. The Wildcats have now lost 3 straight games to Vanderbilt, Florida and Auburn, which puts them at the bottom of the SEC standings. Tennessee is 6-1 with wins over NC State, Oklahoma and Alabama. The Volunteers also have a loss to Arkansas and squeaked out an overtime win over Florida. Both teams have been a little Jekyll and Hyde this year in some of their games and it will be interesting to see not only which team shows up in the game but also for the rest of the season.
Tennessee has prided itself on offensive firepower since head coach Josh Heupel arrived 4 years ago. The Vols had a top-10 offense in their first 2 years under Heupel but last season were ranked 37th. This season they appear on paper to have returned to form with the 13th-ranked offense but that is just on paper. Since starting SEC play the Vols average 21.5 points per game, which would rank 110th in the country. The good news for Tennessee is that although the defenses has been lackluster in years past, it is among the best units in the country this season. The Vols only allow on average 11.6 points and 259 yards, which is 3rd best nationally. Unlike their offense, the defense has not let up since starting SEC play — allowing only 17 points per game on average in conference. Kentucky also boasts a pretty stout defense, but its offense is one of the worst in the country. These teams are very similar defensively, but offensively Tennessee has the edge. The Vols should not only win this game but cover and put a hurting on the Wildcats. Tennessee wields plenty of offensive firepower, as it showed it in its first few games of the season and their 3 previous years. Following a bye week, I like Heupel to scheme up some plays for his offense to put up big numbers.
