The Hokies are a good football team that has caught some bad breaks, while BC is a program on the rise that seems to be running ahead of schedule. That makes this one a fun one. Tech is 3-3 on the year, and the 3 losses include a loss at Vandy that doesn’t look so bad now, a loss at Miami when the conference protected its best asset, and a home loss to Rutgers in a tough matchup problem. Even at 3-3, I think this Hokie team is dangerous. BC’s best win was at Florida State, but isn’t everyone beating the Seminoles at this point? They also hung in there on the road at Missouri. The strength of VT is their passing defense. They have a strong pass rush and a couple of elite corners. On the other side, BC features a dual threat quarterback who will need to use his feet a lot in the passing attack. They also need to lean on their veteran O-line and running game. They were not able to do that at all in their last game against Virginia, and I expect similar struggles against Virginia Tech. The Hokies, on the other hand, should be able to get out to an early lead, force BC into a passing script, while pounding the ball on the ground themselves. I like the Hokies to take this game at home.
