Both teams are trying to rebound from losses, although these are very different situations. For Auburn, it lost at home to Oklahoma last week — marking 2 straight home losses to open SEC play (the other was Arkansas). For the Bulldogs, they lost in a dramatic battle to Alabama on the road in a game where neither team really comes out looking like a loser. The Dawgs will need to handle their business the rest of the way if they want to get back to the SEC Championship game, but they will be favored to do so each week — and in most cases heavily — other than against Texas. I like the Bulldogs to cover this one, even at a large number. My Auburn vs Georgia pick is Georgia -24.

Auburn is a team that is hard to figure out. If you are just a box score reader, this squad looks pretty good. The Tigers can pile up yards on offense, and their defense is a solid unit. But when I watch them, they look very shaky. Their QB situation is not great and they have been far too prone to turnovers. While the Georgia defense isn’t quite as fierce as it usually is, it can still feel like there are 14 guys out there in red shirts on every play. I don’t see Auburn finding much success on offense. In my mind, this game comes down to 2 things: can Auburn avoid turnovers and can its defense hold up? I think the answer to both questions is “no.” Georgia should overpower the Tigers early, and this game will snowball. It’s a big number, but I think the Bulldogs cover. They do not want to let anyone hang around, especially not in their own building.
