The St. Louis Blues head to the Metroplex to battle the Dallas Stars. It’s the third meeting of the season, with the Stars taking the first two games of the series. Dallas won 2-1 in overtime on Dec. 14 at the American Airlines Center, while the Stars won 2-0 in St. Louis. The Under has cashed in each of the meetings this season, and the total has gone low in four in a row in the series, and 8-2 across the past 10 in the series since Jan. 9, 2022. In fact, in the past 10 meetings, Dallas has won seven of those games, while outscoring the Blues 23-14 in the span. That’s 2.3 goals per game (GPG) on offense for Dallas, while St. Louis has just 1.4 goals per game.

The Stars have cashed the Over in six in a row from Feb. 7-28, while the total has gone high in nine of the past 10 outings, too. The Blues have split the Over-Under in the past four games, while the Under has a 6-4 edge in the past 10 games since Jan. 31. Whenever these teams get together, we see a defensive slog, and it doesn’t matter what is happening for either of these teams against other opponents. Go low, and feel confidently in doing so.

The New York Rangers will be welcoming the Nashville Predators to town on Sunday night. The Predators have been horrendous this season, and they are coming off a 7-4 loss on Saturday. While the Predators were playing, the Rangers had the day off and were resting. The Rangers need to start stringing together consecutive wins here if they want to stay in the playoff hunt. These two points against the Predators should be considered must-have. The Predators are brutal defensively, averaging 3.34 goals against per game. The Rangers should easily be able to take advantage of this. In one previous meeting this season the Predators beat the Rangers 2-0, I expect the outcome of this game to be significantly different.

The Predators are an extremely bad team when they are not playing at Bridgestone Arena. They are 6-19-4 when they are on the road this year. On the flip side of that, the Rangers are a solid home team and Madison Square Garden is always rocking. With the home ice advantage on their side, I like the chances of the Rangers getting this one done. I will be taking them to win in regulation time for some extra value.

The New Jersey Devils and Vegas Golden Knights meet for an intra-conference battle on Sunday night. These teams close out what has been yet another exciting week in the NHL as the playoff race ramps up, and points are crucial even for these two powerful teams. How will it play out? New Jersey has a very tough task in front of them, one I don’t see them completing. We know that Vegas is one of the strongest teams in the league, but New Jersey is playing in their second game in as many nights, both on the road. They are playing in one of the toughest buildings in the NHL, and are playing their fourth-straight road game. Vegas should have ample opportunity to jump on them right away with a strong start and constant pressure. They should be a hungry group as the Pacific Division is getting tight with the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings right on their tail, so there is no reason they should have a lack of motivation. Vegas has won four of their last five games, which also includes a 3-1 win over New Jersey. The Toronto Maple Leafs will be participating in a rare matinee game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Leafs are entering this game riding a four-game winning streak and they are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. A major difference for the Leafs this season is the outstanding play of their goaltenders. This has been on full display over their last 10 games. They have also been getting some productive out of their bottom six forwards, which has been an issue for them over the years. On top of all of that, you have the top end talent of Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and William Nylander. These three players alone can carry this team. Going up against a Penguins team that is averaging 3.58 goals against per game should be a fairly simple assignment for this offensively gifted Leafs team.

The Penguins do not have much left to play for this season as they are far outside the playoff picture. They are in a back-to-back situation going up against a well-rested Leafs team. This is a cause for concern for the Penguins. Joel Blomqvist is slated to get the start for the Penguins, he has a 3.63 GAA and .890 SVP in 13 starts this season. The Leafs should be able to dominate this game. I will be taking them on the puck line.

The Boston Bruins picked up a 3-2 road victory against the Pittsburgh Penguins as short ‘dogs (+120) on Saturday as the Under (6.5) connected. The victory came with a huge cost, as Brad Marchand was helped from the ice with an upper-body injury, and his status is uncertain. That’s the bad news. The good news is that David Pastrnak had a goal and an assist to push his point streak to 17 games. Joonas Korpisalo started that game, so Jeremy Swayman is expected to get the starting nod on Sunday. He was in net for a shutout victory over the Wild on Feb. 4, and Swayman made 36 saves in the 3-0 win as moderate favorites (-135) as the Under easily cashed.

The Minnesota Wild were trampled 5-2 in Colorado on Friday, and they’ve dropped three in a row, while getting outscored 14-5. The Wild have had some issues on the defensive end, and in the crease, allowing three or more goals in five straight games, and seven of the previous eight outings. There is concern about Marchand leaving Saturday, and likely being unavailable, but Pastrnak is red-hot, and Swayman blanked the Wild last time these teams faced each other. Back the road team in this matinee battle.
