These teams have both been inconsistent as of late, but Los Angeles is really struggling. They have lost four of their last five games, posting a 1-3-1 record, with some of those losses coming against bottom-feeders in the NHL. This also came with a combination of home and away games. This will also be their 3rd-straight road game, which has included lengthy trips, so I don’t expect them to be as fresh. After losing the recent matchup, Florida should be ready to come out of the gates flying, giving Los Angeles a taste of their own medicine. Both teams are healthy other than Drew Doughty, who hasn’t played this season, and I like Florida’s team better overall as they have a dynamic style of play. The Philadelphia Flyers travel to New Jersey to take on the Devils for the second time in as many games and the third time this month. Philadelphia leads the season series 2-0 and are hoping to add another to their total. They are in the hunt for a playoff spot and need all the wins they can get, but this one tonight won’t come easy.

The Devils are the better team on paper and there’s no question about it, but for whatever reason, they can’t beat the Flyers. Since Jacob Markstrom went down to injury, they have given up 7 goals in 2 games. Jake Allen hasn’t been the problem, but he certainly needs to play better. New Jersey as a team needs to find a way to score goals consistently. Their power play is in the top-10 and they have elite players who can find the back of the net, but in the month of January, their offence has been mostly dry. This is a good spot for them to come out and dominate from start to finish. Look for them to take care of business in regulation.

Their current road trip has been a disaster and things aren’t going to get any easier for them tonight when they take on Utah.

The Hockey Club comes into this matchup having lost 2 in a row and is looking to get back into the win column.
