Denver Nuggets vs Los Angeles Lakers Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 11/23/24

Don’t you just love it when your best player takes a week off from basketball and returns with a 33-point, 17-rebound and 10-assist triple-double? That’s exactly what Nikola Jokic did for his Denver Nuggets last night; unfortunately for them they fell at home to the Mavericks 123-120. Jokic and company don’t get any rest before heading out to Los Angeles for a date with a familiar foe in the Los Angeles Lakers. Playing on a back-to-back scenario also won’t be ideal, but the Nuggets can head into this game with a ton of optimism knowing they have won 12 of the last 13 games between the 2 teams.

The Lakers are trying to bounce back here following their first home loss of the season. Anthony Davis has been putting up the best offensive numbers of his career at 31.3 points and 11.2 rebounds, so if they are smart the Lakers will look to feed him down low early and often in this game. The poor head-to-head record shouldn’t discourage people from backing L.A. It had been pretty solid at home up until that Orlando game, winning 7 of 8. The Lakers’ ATS record is also a respectable 5-3 this season, and catching the Nuggets on a 2nd night of a back-to-back certainly helps their case here.

Taking a week off and then playing 2 nights in a row against formidable opponents won’t be an easy task, even for Jokic. He just isn’t getting enough support from Jamal Murray right now; Murray was only 4-for-16 in last night’s loss vs Dallas. I’m giving the Lakers the benefit of the doubt here and backing them to cover against Denver.
