Method to the Madness

March Madness has produced some of the greatest moments in Basketball History since its inception in 1939. Some huge moments have propelled future NBA stars into the limelight and captured the imagination of the sporting public in the US.

Pickswise has worked closely with Tim Chartier, Sports Analytics Consultant and Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Davidson College, and Amy Langville, former High School/College Basketball star and Mathematics professor at the College of Charleston, alongside their students to assess some of the most technically-challenging shots in tournament history.

From Michael Jordan’s 16-foot jump shot in 1982 for North Carolina, to Jalen Suggs dramatic buzzer-beater for Gonzaga in 2021, the Math experts analyzed three key metrics to choose their top 10 and officially crown the best March Madness shot of all time.
